PINEWOOD DERBY FACTS

Pinewood Derby workshop:
Friday, January 6th 6:30pm till 8:00pm at the Coventry Community Center – downstairs rooms – band saws, weights and glue guns will be available for your use

Early registration and track set up:                                                                       Friday, February 10th from 5:00pm till 8:00pm at theCoventryCommunity Center

Final registration and start:
Saturday, February 11th from 10:00am till 11:00am.

Race will start at 11:30pm

Cars will be handed out to each Scout at the December pack meeting.

Note: Once registration closes, no cars can enter the race

Our Pinewood Derby is run by a computer software system that calculates the winners
by time.  The software races all of the ranks (age groups) together. Each scout will race on each of the 4 tracks.  The time is calculated and averaged out over the four races the scouts car will run to determine the winners.

When registering the scouts Pinewood Derby car, the car must meet all of the
guidelines and regulations that are posted on our web site.  There will be equipment available to make adjustments to weight if necessary. Registration will close at 11:00am on Saturday.  This means that no further work can be done on the race cars.  If you feel it may need adjusting, we would advise that you come early.

While you may have a scale at home or use the post office scale, we will judge
the weight by the scale the pack has so it is fair and consistent across the board.

Note:
Every effort will be made to run ALL scout derby cars as long as the car meets
all other guidelines and registration deadlines set.

DERBY CAR NUMBERS ARE ASSIGNED BY THE CUBMASTER AND HANDED OUT AT THE PINEWOOD DERBY WORKSHOP

AKELA DERBY

Akela’s derby registration and race will begin 30minutes after the finish of the Cub Derby.

Any parent, grandparent, sibling or Den Chief may participate in the Akela race.  There is a $5.00 registration fee for every entry in the Akela.

 All standard Pinewood Derby rules apply to the Akela race.
